Jonathan Edward Tremayne Hutchison, aged 57, of Wakefield Quebec, passed away suddenly of natural causes at his home April 24, 2026.
Edward was born July 2, 1968, to Anne (née Tremayne) and Gordon Hutchison in Toronto, Ontario. In March 1971 he moved with his family to Ottawa, where he spent his childhood and youth.
He attended Elmdale Public School, Connaught Public School and Fisher Park High School, and was a graduate of Algonquin College's Architectural Technician and Carpentry programs.
Edward became an accomplished carpenter, builder and home designer. He was highly skilled in working with wood and concrete and was especially passionate about environmental design. His creativity, craftsmanship and attention to detail were reflected in the many projects he completed throughout his career. His work included the millwork for the Wild Oat in Ottawa's Glebe neighbourhood, the handcrafted live-edge service counter that remains a defining feature of La Forêt, and the architectural timber-and-stone installation at the entrance to Le Hibou, both in Wakefield. His craftsmanship can be found throughout homes, businesses, and gathering places across the region.
An active outdoorsman, Edward enjoyed sailing, canoeing, skiing and hiking. He found peace and fulfilment in nature and appreciated the beauty of the natural world.
Edward is survived by his mother Anne Mimee (formerly Hutchison), his sister Ame Hutchison (Carl Vallieres), his son Jasper Bartram-Hutchison and Jasper’s mother (Alex Lillie Bartram). He is also survived by his stepmother Leslie Coxall and her children, Richard Latour (Marlisa) and Michelle Diotte (Brodie). Also, his uncle Fred and aunt Lorna Hutchison. He leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his father Gordon Hutchison, March 25, 2016, and his stepfather Tom Mimee, August 1, 2019.
