Passed away at Hull Hospital in Gatineau, Quebec following a months-long illness. Born in Kitchener, Ontario to parents Eric Lautenschlager (d. 2012) and Violet Harlock (d. 1995). Also pre-deceased by husband Gordon Shoemaker (d. 2013), son Andrew (d. 2021) and brother Alan (d. 1989).
Survived by her son Daniel, her brother David and sister-in-law Donna. Will be missed by nieces Sarah, Laura, Katie and nephew Michael, work friends, dear Aylmer friends Mary, Iris, Michel and others, the old Queen’s Blvd. neighbourhood club, and the Forest Heights high school friends’ group.
Janet graduated from Forest Heights Collegiate, Wilfrid Laurier University, and the University of Toronto. Janet and Gord moved to Aylmer, Quebec over 40 years ago when she started a lengthy career in the federal public service in Ottawa, holding positions in several different departments including the Department of Multiculturism and Citizenship. Volunteered on the Special Education Advisory Committee for the Western Quebec School Board and in retirement at the Ottawa Mission on Waller Street.
