In memory of

Jonathan Edward Tremayne Hutchison

1968 - 2026

Jonathan Edward Tremayne Hutchison, aged 57, of Wakefield Quebec, passed away suddenly of natural causes at his home April 24, 2026.
Edward was born July 2, 1968, to Anne (née Tremayne) and Gordon Hutchison in Toronto, Ontario. In March 1971 he moved with his family to Ottawa, where he spent his childhood and youth.
He attended Elmdale Public School, Connaught Public School and Fisher Park High School, and was a graduate of Algonquin College's Architectural Technician and Carpentry programs.

Edward became an accomplished carpenter, builder and home designer. He was highly skilled in working with wood and concrete and was especially passionate about environmental design. His creativity, craftsmanship and attention to detail were reflected in the many projects he completed throughout his career. His work included the millwork for the Wild Oat in Ottawa's Glebe neighbourhood, the handcrafted live-edge service counter that remains a defining feature of La Forêt, and the architectural timber-and-stone installation at the entrance to Le Hibou, both in Wakefield. His craftsmanship can be found throughout homes, businesses, and gathering places across the region.

An active outdoorsman, Edward enjoyed sailing, canoeing, skiing and hiking. He found peace and fulfilment in nature and appreciated the beauty of the natural world.

Edward is survived by his mother Anne Mimee (formerly Hutchison), his sister Ame Hutchison (Carl Vallieres), his son Jasper Bartram-Hutchison and Jasper’s mother (Alex Lillie Bartram). He is also survived by his stepmother Leslie Coxall and her children, Richard Latour (Marlisa) and Michelle Diotte (Brodie). Also, his uncle Fred and aunt Lorna Hutchison. He leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his father Gordon Hutchison, March 25, 2016, and his stepfather Tom Mimee, August 1, 2019.

I met Ed when I first moved here from Idaho in 1994. Ed was incredibly fit, gong-ho, and had no fear to get out there and get after it, no matter what it was, or whatever the weather ! Cross country skiing, sailing, dang fast middle distance runner….and most of all….an out of the box Creative thinker, with no fear to apply his powerful imagination and translate it into Reality ! A True Wild Man ! He took Freedom ALL the way, in HIS way ! All the work that I saw him manifest included some kind of Artistic touch, turning what could have been mundane into something with that special something…. We all have our crosses to carry and Ed’s was also a heavy one. I pray it will be lighter the next time around. Ed….you are a good and righteous Man. Let’s meet again and try another adventure together !!! Love and Respect, Michal.
