I will deeply miss him, Janvier was my first English teacher in elementary school and also my Sunday School teacher. When Janvier left me back home, I stayed inspired by his Faith and hoped to join him in Canada one day; which came to pass 10years later. Till we meet again on that Bright Morning. RIP my Mentor🫡🕊

Uncle, I don’t even know where to start. First of all, I want to say how much I appreciate the way you treated tantine. You were the best husband she could ever have asked for and the best father your children could have wished for. Thank you for being such an inspiration to so many people. I don’t even think you realized how many lives you touched. Seeing people from all over the world grieving your loss is a beautiful testimony to the kind of person you were. You had such a pure heart and so much kindness in you, and that is something everyone is going to miss. Even though we didn’t see each other very often, I still remember the day you came to our house in Belgium. You spent the day with us, and we laughed and enjoyed every moment together. I will also never forget the day you and tantine got married. It was such a beautiful and special day. Your kids played with me for hours we laughed, joked, and had so much fun. I even teased them by saying that their dad supported such a small football club (chelsea) and that (arsenal) was going to win the title. Janvier, you are in a better place now. Rest in peace. Ethan, Liam, and tantine are so proud of you, and so am I. This is not goodbye. It’s simply “see you later.” Until we meet again.

Janvier était un formidable voisin. Nous garderons le souvenir d'une personne toujours souriante, aimable et très agréable! C'était la première personne dans le voisinage à nous avoir abordés lorsque nous y avons déménagé, avec son fameux "Bonjour voisins!!!". Il faisait la conversation à tout le monde, aux adultes, en passant par ma fille de 10ans avec laquelle il parlait soccer et son amour pour "Chelsea" ou encore des instruments de musique qu'il appréciait. Mais au delà du voisin extrêmement respectueux, nous garderons le souvenir d'un mari amant et d'un papa très proche de Liam et Ethan. Nous nous remémorons encore lorsque Janvier devait courir pour rattraper Ethan qui allait à vive allume en vélo jusqu'en bas de la rue, ou encore de la fois où il cherchait Liam qu'il a fini retrouver caché dans les buissons. Que son âme repose en paiw. Toutes mes pensées pour Josephine et les enfants.

Your passing still shocks me Janvier! I hear the saying of the time being too short...I came to realization now! I can't cry because I'm a man... but my stomach is full of tears. 26yrs I've known you as a brother seems like 26hrs. You've shaped my life in a way i never realized until the day God Almighty called you. Your faith, jokes, volleyball training every morning put me on the map a player, your brotherly discussion put me on plane to Canada etc... Jusqu'à présent, je n’arrive pas à croire que Janvier n’est plus avec nous. C’est incroyable! À Sherbrooke, on a eu de merveilleux moments de prières, de joie et d’allégresse sur la montagne élevée de Dieu. J’en garde de bons souvenirs et glorifie le Seigneur Jésus pour sa fidélité. Que le Saint-Esprit nous console et nous fortifie, je prie particulièrement pour une intervention divine pour Joséphine, Liam et Ethan en ce moment difficile. Vous n’êtes pas seuls, nous sommes de tout cœur avec vous.

For Josephine...thank you for sharing with everyone your perspective on your life with Janvier today at the funeral. I knew Janvier (as one of his sponsors) when he first arrived in Canada as a young man with lots of dreams who touched our hearts, but I learned so much more from you about the man he became. Your loss and grief are so much more than you and your children should have to bear. We here in Lennoxville share your sadness insofar as we can. May Janvier's legacy for you and for all of us be one of hope and inspiration to embrace life with enthusiasm as he seems to have done.
