Barry passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on May 17th, 2026. Barry's passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who loved him.
He was the beloved husband of Gloria for the past 35 years, Barry was also a devoted stepfather to Richard (Genevieve) and Mélanie (Christian), a loving grandfather to Alexandra (Matt), Audrey (Louis), Maïna and Mégane and proud great-grandfather to Noah. Barry also leaves behind numerous friends and family, including his brother Pat Burns (Claire) and his beloved dog Chanelle. Barry was predeceased by his loving parents Dorothy Connelly and Percy Burns and by his sister Helen Lortie.
He will be remembered for his loving nature and his devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of life will be held at the Coopérative funéraire de l'Outaouais-Lac Beauchamp- located at 750 Maloney Boulevard East in Gatineau, on June 5th 2026, at 10 am. The family will be present as of 9:15 to receive condolences.
The family would like to extend their heartful gratitude to the CLSC palliative care team for their dedication, support and compassion.

I was sad to hear of Barry's passing. While I did not know him well, personally, he was always pleasant to chat with at events. I heard of many good things he did in the community and supporting the Senior's Group at St. Al's.

Forty plus years ago I was introduced to Barry at my local hometown picnic. Little did I know that I would meet him again at my work. I had to go upstairs to his area of work and I recognized him and I said to him that I knew who he was because I had met him at the Farrellton Picnic. We became friends from that time onward. As I knew Gloria a few years more than Barry and then they became a couple we became even closer friends. Barry was always thinking about the other person and would find a way to help them if needed. He had a heart of gold. I am so blessed to have know such a wonderful guy. My sympathy goes out to Gloria, Richard and Melanie and the grandchildren. Rest in peace Barry. You will be remembered by many.
