It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Theresa Farias Viveiros, who peacefully left us surrounded by love on February 24, 2026, at the age of 70. There are no words that can truly capture the sorrow we feel or the depth of the loss in our hearts. She was the heart of our family, our greatest strength, and our guiding light. We love you endlessly and will miss you forever.

Theresa was born on May 17, 1955, in Santa Barbara, Ponta Delgada, to her loving parents Jose Farias & Margarida Farias. At just 13 years old, she bravely immigrated to Canada, carrying with her courage, resilience, and hope for a brighter future. From a young age, she understood the value of hard work and determination. Self-taught and fiercely independent, she built a life grounded in love, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to her family.

A devoted and loving wife of 50 years to her husband, Eduardo Viveiros, Theresa’s life was a true partnership built on commitment, faith, and unconditional love. together, they created a beautiful family and a home filled with warmth and love.

She was a proud and loving mother to her son Tommy (Amanda) and her daughter Kathy (Alex). Her greatest joy in life was being “Vovó” to her cherished grandchildren Zoe, Emma, Milo, and Bentley, whom she adored beyond measure. They were the light of her life, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them. Through warm meals, comforting hugs, wise advice, and endless encouragement, she made each of them feel deeply loved and protected.

Theresa expressed her love in countless ways, but especially through food. Feeding others was her love language, and no one ever left her home hungry. She found joy in preparing meals that brought people together, and she especially loved baking. Her kitchen was always filled with the comforting smell of fresh bread, homemade sweets, and the cherished recipes she perfected over the years. She nurtured people the same way she nurtured her plants. Blessed with a natural green thumb, she filled her home and garden with vibrant plants and beautiful flowers. Whether tending to her blooming hydrangeas or carefully caring for each indoor plant, she created beauty wherever she went. Her love of food, her flourishing plants, and her passion for flowers were reflections of her generous spirit, always giving, always caring, always growing.

For the past eight years, Theresa battled illness with extraordinary strength and grace. She faced every challenge with courage, never allowing it to dim her spirit. She was the strongest woman we knew—a true fighter until the very end. Even during her hardest days, her focus remained on her family and ensuring everyone else was okay. Her resilience and faith inspired all who knew her.

Theresa is survived by her loving brothers and sisters: Maria do Carmo (late husband Antonio Cabral), Josemaria (late wife Genoveva Farias), Gilberto (Silvana Farias), Victor (Maria Asceição Farias), Duarte (Lydia Farias), and her sister-in-law Aldina Farias. She was predeceased by her sister Januaria Farias, her brother Antonio (late wife Natalia Farias), and her brother Laurenio Farias. Along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, they will miss her deeply.

Theresa dedicated her life to ensuring her children and grandchildren would have opportunities she could only dream of. Every sacrifice she made was rooted in love. She taught us perseverance, compassion, humility, and the unbreakable bond of family. The values she instilled in us will continue to guide us every day.

She will be remembered for her gentle heart, her quiet strength, her generosity, and her fierce, unconditional love. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that her love surrounds us still and always will.

Mom, you are now at peace, free from pain, but you will live on forever in our hearts. Thank you for every sacrifice, every prayer, every hug, and every lesson. We love you more than words can ever express. Rest in eternal peace.

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear."

A Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 2 pm at La Coopérative funéraire de l’Outaouais, 1369 La Vérendrye Boulevard West in Gatineau. The family will be present as of 11 am to receive condolences.
