It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Gerald (Gerry) Backs on December 22, 2025 at the age of 84.
He leaves behind the love of his life Lorraine; his children Allan (Roxanne) and Pam (Alain); his grandchildren Andrew and Kayden. He also leaves his sisters Joan McSorley, Kathy McSorley (Paul), Beatrice Boucher (Dave), Pat Blundon (Moe), Chris Jennings (Phil) and Helen Soubliere (Denis); his sisters-in-law Freda Backes of London, Helen Sarmiento of Kelowna and Judy Backs of Ottawa, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Emile Backs and Mildred McNulty, his siblings Con, Theresa, Joe, Bernie, Lena, Janet and Herve.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 2 pm at La Coopérative funéraire de l’Outaouais, 1369 La Vérendrye Boulevard West in Gatineau. Family will be present as of 1:15 pm to receive condolences.
For those who wish to do so, a donation in his memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated.
