The George family

We are so grateful to have known and worked for Steve. We were like a big family. He was the kindest, wittiest and most generous person I’ve known. His heart was huge. His sense of humour and blunt, funny sayings always brought a smile.
Steve, you were a very loved and respected man. You will always be appreciated. You’ve left wonderful memories for many. Lots of love ❤️

Christine et la famille

If the purpose of life is to leave the world in a better place, Steve sure did that. He had such a meaningful and positive impact on me and my family as a friend and a mentor. Always there to motivate and remove self doubts. Thanks for so many memories such as business talks, fishing trips, and laughs!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

R.I.P Steve

Stephen George

I have such fond, wonderful memories of Steve in high school, playing cards in the portable, laughing a lot. Hanging out at the George home, laughing and playing cards. Steve was a kind, generous man and so much fun!

Family and friends of Steve George

Steve you were one of a kind. Fifty years of friendship. You never think it will end but sadly it does.
So many memories of a good, kind and caring man.
Several of our university friends have contacted me this week. John King and Pat Beasley still recall all those bridge games they lost to us and the money they paid to us.
Dances in the common room on your floor almost every Saturday night, to dumping a garbage can of water in Paul Belisle’s residence room. We did a lot of hijinks together.
Of course, I can’t forget Marsha crashing your first car while we went horse back riding!
Even singing, I think we were better than most of our friends think we were. I recall us going to a restaurant in old Montreal with Sharon and Marsha. Maybe we had too much to drink, but we stood up and sang songs in French. And when we left the restaurant, several tables stood and applauded. I am sure it was because of our talent and not because we were leaving!.
Memories of our annual trip to one of the Caribbean Islands in the 1980s and 1990s. We had a lot of fun there, thanks in large part to you.
Memories of going fishing for our annual weekend in Watertown with Larry Dewing and his dad. We even caught fish!!
The Discount Christmas parties, the dinners at FIORIs, the Business After Hours fairs for small businesses. You made everyone you cared about feel special.
Even when you became sick, I seemed to be sick at the same time. When I was in the hospital in November, I was wondering how you were doing, hoping that you were ok.
Though you are no longer with us, your memory of the man you were, will live forever in our minds.
Miss you.

Christine and Cassandra

Steve was my best friend, my favorite brother, sometimes he was a father, a mentor and above all, together with Christine and Cass, our family in Canada.

I have yet to meet someone as generous as he was.I consider myself privileged to have shared a path on his journey and grateful for the place he had in my family’s heart.

I feel his absence, I miss our frequent conversations, but I will not let myself be sad, because I know Steve would not allow it.

To him, life needed to be experienced, to be enjoyed, cherishing every day as it came before him. This is one of the many things he taught me, to see life as a gift that is granted to us day by day.

He lived a full and meaningful life, that can be measured by the positive impact he had in almost everyone who got in contact with him.

I think he was able to be like he was thanks to the love, peace, and security that Christine gave him. Acting as his guiding light, giving him purpose and motivating him through his life. To give homage to Steve is also an acknowledgment to Christine and to the amazing duo they made.

I will never forget you dear brother and I will always love you.

I also know you’re somewhere laughing when I end with my favorite saying I always shared with you: “the more you do, the more you can do”.

We will always love you "Toro Caca"

To my son Steve,
The thoughts of losing a child is upsetting and hard to believe, thinking that a parent would be the first to leave, but "Providence" has the last say. All in all, "Steve" has been a giving son and helped anyone that needed it. The "Lord" will be good to him and his family. We will all miss you, and I love you forever! May God Bless you, Hugs and Kisses,
Mom xoxo

The George Family

Steve will be missed. His huge heart was a blessing to all that knew him. I have many memories in which he had a starring role. Most good, but the shaving cream prank...ugh. He was a compassionate friend and merry prankster, loving family man and tremendous business man. My heart hurts. If I had a tuero, I’d smoke it. Deepest sympathies to all who loved him, so I guess that would everyone who knew him.

Christine

We were so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. When I think of Steve, I remember how generous he was with all the staff at Discount, especially those Friday lunches!! It was an honour to have worked with him and yourself. I know he will be sorely missed.

Jennifer and family

Jen, my thoughts are with you and your family. Your dad was funny, kind, and generous. he had a positive impact on my life – offering me a job when he heard I was being mistreated at my (then) current employer. I'm still in touch with friends I met working at Discount, an extended family he created. My condolences.

Family

There are a several images that will be forever etched into my mind when I think of Uncle Steve.
Uncle Steve would spoil us every time we saw him, giving us tons of attention, candy...mainly black licorice, a few coins quietly slipped into our palms or pockets and including us in games, jokes and stories to make us feel important and loved.
Another one of his classics, is the zombie trance dance that Uncle Steve pioneered, and executed with his brothers. The rest of us would inevitably howl with laughter and delight and then be compelled to join in. I assure you, this would have been a TikTok sensation had it ever been recorded.
Uncle Steve revelled in seeing joy in other people's faces, and if he could make that happen he would go out of his way to do it. I can hear his giddy laugh and his bellowing voice as one of the kids cleaned up the winning quarters after playing Thirty-One.
His hospitality and generosity had no end. He was one of a kind and will be forever missed.
To Grandma, Uncle Ken, Aunt June, Dad, Uncle Carl, Aunt Joanne, Aunt Jeanne, Christine, Cass, Vee and Jenny, we send you love and sympathy and look forward to giving you all a big hug soon.
