Bertrand A. Madore died Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Gatineau, following a long and courageous struggle with illness. He leaves his best friend and deeply loved wife Linda (Shugart), his mother Cécile Ruest, his brothers Michel and Donald, and a wider family who loved and admired him very much. Born in Mont Joli, QC, of Alexandre and Cécile, he lived most of his adult life in the National Capital Region.
A loving husband, and devoted son and brother, Bertrand was a quiet and effective servant of the Lord Jesus, an example to many, and a source of wise counsel and practical support.
Bertrand was, above all else, a friend. He had great understanding of people; he gave them his close attention and his generosity. He lightened their burdens with humour and stories; he remembered details of their lives.
Bertrand was a keen observer of the world and his country. He loved nature and took delight in human creativity and skill. He was good with his hands and his mind. Bertrand could have walked many different paths in life. But all who knew and loved him will forever be grateful to have shared with Bertrand part of our lifes journey.
A funeral service will be held at Église Saint-Marc, 142 Lewis Street in Ottawa, at 11:00 on Tuesday, January 20; an informal reception will follow. Messages of condolence may be sent via www.cfo.coop
If desired, donations in memory of Bertrand to the Canadian Diabetes Association, to Église Saint-Marc, or to Christian Direction Chrétienne Inc., Montreal, would be welcome.
