Guérin, Roland

GUÉRIN, Roland

1941 - 2025

It was at the Maison des Collines in Wakefield that Roland Guérin passed away surrounded by his immediate family on August 7, 2025, leaving an immeasurable void in the hearts of his beloved wife, Laure-Anne, and his cherished daughters, Natalie and Julie.

To those who had the privilege of knowing him well, Roland was more than a friend or colleague: He was a warm, joyful, and steadfast presence.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, he embraced challenges with passion, be it walking, cycling, or playing racquetball.

His loved ones will forever remember his quick wit, his kindness, and the quiet wisdom and humility that defined him. Friends and colleagues alike saw in him a compassionate soul who enriched every life he touched.

Roland began his career at the City of Ottawa Social Welfare department then moved on to the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa. After completing his graduate studies, he directed ISS (International Social Services) Canada. He then worked for the Quebec public service in various social service capacities.

The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Coopérative funéraire de l’Outaouais (Pavillon Lac-des-Fées), located at 95, boul. de la Cité-des-Jeunes in Gatineau (Hull sector).

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 21, at 2 p.m. at St. Stephen's Church, 212 Old Chelsea Road in Chelsea.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the Maison des Collines in Wakefield or to the Cabane en bois rond, where a tree will be planted in his memory — a living tribute to a life well-lived.
