CHARLEBOIS, Robert Léon

1931 - 2025

It is with regret that we inform you of the death of Mr. Robert (Bob) Léon Charlebois, son of the late Léon A. Charlebois and the late Aurore Huneault, on April 24, 2025.

Predeceased by his daughter Ninon Charlebois (August 3, 2006), he is survived by his wife Mrs. Yolande (Thibaudeau), his daughter Louise (Orlando Grisales), his son Pierre (Shauna Brown), his grandchildren Camille, Santiago, Mahée and Sophie, his brother Louis (late Floriane Chevrier), his sister-in-law Irène Carbonneau (late Yvon Charlebois), several nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

Born on May 18, 1931, in Ansonville, Northern Ontario, Iroquois Falls, Bob received his classical education from the Jesuits in Sudbury, followed by a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Ottawa, a Bachelor of Philosophy at Saint Paul University (Ottawa) and a Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of London (Ontario). He married Yolande in 1955 and of his 94 years of life he spent 70 years with her. During his long career, he has worked for London Life, RCA Victor, IBM, Phillips and Micom. He participated in the establishment of the IBM plant in Bromont from 1970 to 1973, of which he was proud.

Living mainly in the Outaouais from 1973 to 1992, he once retired, ran a Bed and Breakfast with Yolande in Saint-Adolphe d'Howard before returning to the Outaouais in 2004.

He had a long and full life. A tireless and very skilled handyman, he renovated several of the houses where he lived with his family. He loved to laugh and had a great sense of humour and repartee. He was a calm and composed man who knew how to listen and give his opinion with respect, without imposing himself. He valued family and friendship; he was a man who could be counted on. The education of his children was a priority for him, and he was very proud of it.

Bob was proud of his journey and of taking good care of his family, as he liked to tell in his last months of life. He kept his smile and his sense of humour until the end, despite Alzheimer's disease that had diminished him for some time.

Husband, father, devoted grandfather and faithful friend, his presence will be missed.

An intimate celebration of his life, in the presence of the ashes, will be held at a later date.

For those who wish to do so, donations to the Alzheimer Society of the Outaouais would be appreciated.
