CUNNINGHAM, Noreen

1930 - 2025

Noreen Cunningham (née Dillon) passed away peacefully at the age of 94 at Gatineau, Quebec on October 13, 2025.  Noreen was one of three children born in 1930 in Ottawa, Ontario to the late John Patrick Dillon (né Buchanan) and the late Mary Marguerite Pennett.

Noreen was previously married to the late Robert (Bob) Cunningham and is survived by her children Brian (Joane Seguin) and Lynn (Eric Flynn), four grandchildren Julie, Patrick, Gary and Jeremy, and four great-grandchildren, Morgan, Carson, Charlotte and Noah.

Noreen is survived by her sister Rita Lasky (William) of North Tonawanda, New York, USA, sisters-in-law Carmen Gauvreau (Gerald Dillon) and Claire Cunningham (Maurice Rossignol).  Noreen’s brother Gerald (Gerry) predeceased her in 2017.

Noreen will be missed by her nieces, nephews, friends and in particular, her best friend, Mrs. Jeannine Goulet.

Noreen loved the outdoors and camping and enjoyed a variety of sports including golf, skiing and instructing at Camp Fortune, she always enjoyed her annual fishing trips with Brian and Eric.  She collected antiques and was an amateur birdwatcher who maintained feeders for the birds who frequented her back yard.  She was a volunteer at Philemon Wright High School in Hull upon retirement.

Noreen was proud of her Irish heritage and known for her great sense of humour.  Noreen cherished her independence and maintained her home in Hull of 59 years, until her health required her to move into a seniors residence several years ago.

A private family celebration of Noreen’s life will be held, followed next spring by interment in Notre Dame Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario.

Our sincerest condolences at the passing of your Mom - our Aunt Noreen. We have so many happy memories of your Mom and her wonderful sense of humour. Many a family gathering would be spent listening to your Mom and my Dad making jokes and having everyone in fits of laughter. If there is an afterlife I am sure my Dad is welcoming her with open arms and a ready to share a good story and joke. Sending warmest hugs to you and the family xo

So sorry to learn of the passing of Noreen . She was a wonderful sister-in-law and Jerry and I had so many wonderful memories of times we spent together. If Noreen was in the room we were sure laughter was not far behind - smiling. May she be at rest now. Keep her happy memories with you always. Love Auntie Carmen
