Gaudet, Sylvia

1953 - 2017

Sylvia Gaudet

Ms Gaudet passed away suddenly on April 20, 2017 at the age of 63.

Predeceased by her father Edmour Gaudet, her mother Thérèse Martin and her brother Paul.  She leaves behind her sisters: Élaine (Wayne Johnson), Louise; her brothers: Raymond (Kelly Gaudet), Robert (Angela Mills) and Marc.  She also leaves her nephews and nieces: Mikaël (Nadine) their children Rafaël and Chloé, Alexi, Misha, Adrien (Ashton), Danielle and Elisa as well as 75 cousins and many friends from around the world.

She was born in Prince Albert, Sk, the third of seven children.  She obtained her Bronze Medallion, she was a synchronized swimmer, a swimming instructor and a lifeguard.  She obtained a Grade X diploma in Piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music and enjoyed playing various instruments.  She obtained her B.A, B.Ed and M.A. in the Arts of Teaching French and English as well as a Ceramics Diploma.

She taught English in Japan, on a First Nations reservation as well as in Fransaskois schools. She was a ceramist for over a decade in her studio in the forest north of Prince Albert.

Curious throughout her life, she was a free spirit, an educator, a voracious reader, an artist of myriad mediums and a world traveler.

Sylvia moved to Gatineau in 2012 to be closer to some members of her family and to live in a French community.  She loved the Aylmer Heritage groups and was actively reinventing herself in her community, taking classes, seeking new experiences and building friendships.

The celebration of her life will be held at the COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE DE L'OUTAOUAIS, at 95 Cité-des-Jeunes Blvd, in Gatineau (Hull sector) on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 2 p.m. The family will receive condolences as of 1 p.m.

For those who wish to do so, donations to Plan Canada would be appreciated.
