Chilton, Richard Frederick

CHILTON, Richard Frederick

1936 - 2020

It is with great sadness that the family announces Rick’s peaceful passing on October 16th, 2020 at the age of 84.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Nicole Labelle Chilton, he leaves behind his children, Brian, Louise and Anne Whelan and Cary, Danny, Rob, Lisa and Scott Chilton.

He will be missed by his many cherished grandchildren, great-grand children, his siblings Jean, Viv, Norma, Lucy and Doris and his extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his siblings, Peggy, Glenn, Sandy, and Keith and his parents Mary Manning and Charles Chilton.

Rick or Dick, as he was known by his family, was born in Provost, Alberta into a family of 10 siblings.  In his early twenties he joined the Royal Canadian Airforce and was based in Colorado Springs for the duration of his service. He later moved to Almonte, Ontario and then to Gatineau Quebec. During many years Nicole and Rick enjoyed the summer months with family and friends at their cottage on Otter Lake. Being the avid golfer that he was, retirement enabled Rick to play to his heart’s content, finally getting his ‘’HOLE in 1’’ on October 26th, 2010.

There will be no formal funeral service and a celebration of Rick’s life will be held at a later date.  Rick’s love for the country and the outdoors never changed and as per his wishes, his ashes will be returned to his much-loved Alberta.

For those who wish to do so, donations in Rick’s memory can be made to a charity or foundation of your choice.

The family wishes to thank the amazing team of the CHSLD des Collines in Masham, Quebec for the special attention, support and compassion shown to Rick while he was in their care.

Louise, Anne, Brian families.

It was with a very heavy heart that I learned of Rick's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences at this very difficult time. Having lost Keith only a short time before, I can truly understand your grief and loss.
Although they weren't able to see each other very often in the past few years, I believe that Rick and Keith shared a very special bond. I can picture them now, sitting around the kitchen table, swapping stories, sharing a joke or two and reminiscing about the "good old" days gone by.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Betty
