PAQUIN DEVINE, Pierrette
1930 - 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of
Pierrette Cecilia Paquin Devine
on September 17, 2020, at the age of 90, peacefully at home in Luskville. She was predeceased by her parents, Donat Paquin and Elsie Paquin (Lapointe) of Hull, her sister Paulette Paquin (Lavigne), and her husband Francis Devine of Ottawa. Pierrette leaves behind her three children Andrée, Tyler, and Sean Sr., as well as her beloved grandson Sean Jr. Devine; her sister Pauline Paquin (Volovikov); her nieces and her nephew Nina Volovikov, Louise (Dupéré), Viviane, Donat, and Denise Lavigne; cherished friend Elaine Barnes; great-nieces and nephews, her grand-niece and countless other friends and students who will miss Pierrette’s strength, wit, and steadfast determination.
Pierrette’s many athletic accomplishments in the figure skating world will continue to be celebrated. Such accomplishments, include, but are not limited to her being a two-time Canadian gold medal winner and the first woman in North America to qualify as an Olympic figure skating judge. But perhaps her greatest accomplishment is the impact she left on her students, friends, and family. Her life was one of poise, intellect, respect, and grace, which touched the hearts of anyone who met her.
In the words of her husband, Frank, “Here’s to you, Champ”.
The Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, in the sunshine!
