CARMANICO, Dawn Evelyn

1946 - 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Dawn Evelyn Carmanico on June 22, 2025, at the age of 78. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Dawn will be fondly remembered for her warm heart, generous spirit, and sharp sense of humor. Her quick wit and loving nature brought joy to everyone around her. She had a unique gift for making others feel cared for — whether through her comforting hugs, her trademark back massages, or the countless bowls of her famous spaghetti sauce, always served with love and more than enough to go around.

Dawn’s kindness and affection were constant in the lives of her family and friends. She touched many hearts with her sweetness and thoughtful gestures, and those who knew her will always remember the way she made them feel — loved, welcomed, and at ease.

She was a cherished mother to Stephen, Tracy, and Deborah Lee Bellefeuille (spouse Richard Paquin), each of whom carries precious memories of her enduring love. Her legacy lives on in her beloved grandchildren: Robert Bellefeuille, Daniel Vien, Natalie Vien, and Amanda Bellefeuille, and in her seven great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her later years.

Born on August 1, 1946, Dawn was the daughter of Michael and Irene Carmanico and one of ten siblings in the Carmanico family. She is predeceased by her parents and by her brothers Michael, Gerry, Patrick, and Angelo. She is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings: Jean Carmanico (spouse Jim Sturdy), Joan Carmanico, Bruce Carmanico (spouse Toady), Roxanne Mok (spouse Frank Mok) and David Carmanico. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her deeply and remember her with great affection.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of the Salvation Army Grace Manor – Gladstone Wing, whose care and kindness brought comfort to both Dawn and her loved ones during her final days. Your support will always be remembered with deep appreciation.

Dawn will be deeply missed and forever remembered — with love, with laughter, and with full plates — by all those whose lives she touched.

A celebration of Dawn’s life will be held at the COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE DE L'OUTAOUAIS, 1369 La Vérendrye Boulevard West, in Gatineau, on Friday July 25th, 2025 at 10am. The family will receive condolences as of 9:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dawn’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society or to a cancer research foundation of your choice.

Our sincere sympathy on your sad loss. Our family enjoyed spending time with Dawn, she was such a kind and caring person. Our late mother, Norma Black Scullion, treasured her company and their chats. May Dawn rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

I so sorry for the loss of your Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. I meet your Mother Dawn at Aunt Jacquie's and all three of us would play yahtzee with your Mother and would usually stay the night. It was always so much fun. Your Mother was wonderful and caring woman. Dawn had a heart of gold and a personality to go with it
