Reynolds, Brian

REYNOLDS, Brian

1931 - 2025

July 24, 1931 - May 9, 2025

It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Brian Reynolds of Gatineau on May 9, 2025. Brian was a very active member of the Gatineau and Grand Lake, Quebec cottage community.

Brian was President of the Gatineau Community Association for many years. He actively promoted the Anglophones of Gatineau to participate in social and political events. He spearheaded many speaking engagements and presentations, encouraging better services for the English-speaking community. This included fundraising events, dances, golf tournaments, and fun curling events.

Once he retired from his federal government position, he was fully engaged in the cottage life of Grand Lake. Almost immediately, he got involved with the Grand Lake Association, and before long, he became a member of the board and later, the President. Brian was boating around the lake, meeting with cottage residents to promote membership and participation in lake activities. He chaired a Millennium Celebration in the summer of 2000 including an auction, some children’s events, and a gala lakeside dance under the stars.

Aside from his cottage life, he and Glennis were snowbirds for several years, spending part of their winters in Sarasota, Florida. Of course, he became involved in his community there too, organizing fundraisers and social activities for their condominium group.

After he suffered a stroke 14 years ago, his life changed significantly, but he was still working on his computer and telephone to stay in touch and planning projects for either his home or cottage. Then, when he sold the lake property, this signaled the end of his active involvement. Before Brian departed the lake, he was honoured with a plaque designating him as “Mr. Grand Lake”. In November of 2024, Brian was predeceased by his beloved wife, Glennis. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family wishes to extend special appreciation to Jessica, Clarisse, and Asa, with special mention to Marc and Tracey for all the care provided over the years.

Family and friends are invited to attend a service on Wednesday, May 28th at La Coopérative funéraire de l’Outaouais, 750 Maloney Blvd. E., Gatineau, QC J8P 1G4. Visitation is at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. and a reception immediately afterwards. After the reception, a graveside burial will be held at the East Templeton United Church Cemetery.

For those who may be unable to attend, a webcast will available at : https://commemora.tv/fr/diffusions/109363

Very sorry to hear that Brian has passed away. He was a "deer hunting" buddy of my Dad's and he had helped me get into the Municipality council. He did a lot for his community either at Grand Lake or in Gatineau. He will be missed.
