McDonald, Jo-Anne

MCDONALD, Jo-Anne

1954 - 2024

It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Jo-Anne McDonald at the age 69.

Jo-Anne McDonald is survived by her children Sean McDonald (Melanie) and April Ebeye (Joel). She will be fondly remembered by her cherished grandchildren Parker, Matteo & Jeremiah. She will be missed by her sister in law Patricia McDonald (Wayne), along with many nieces and nephews.

She is reunited with many people she has lost during her life, starting with her husband and the father of her children Micheal McDonald (pre deceased). Jo-Anne was the daughter of Gerald & Maria Lanouette both pre deceased. Long time partner of Dave Carr also pre deceased. Her siblings Claire, Jacqueline & Victor all of which have also passed on.

Jo-Anne has lived a very full happy life despite the many hurdles and losses she always showed resiliency and tenacity. She will forever be remembered as a baker who loved to spoil her family, friends and especially grandkids with her baked goods. She loved to host the girls for some apps and deserts at her condo in Gatineau but always made time to see her friends from North Bay where she grew up and lived for more than 55 years. Jo-Anne and Dave were the owners of D&J transport and later in life she worked many years at Zellers in North Bay. She had so many fond memories with the friends and colleagues from that time. After retirement she moved to Gatineau, Quebec where she made some lifelong friendships including her adopted “sister” Madeleine Nault who has been such a great support to the family and was by Jo-Anne’s side till the very end.

She enjoyed every minute spent with her grandkids from playing cars, reading books & obviously baking together she loved them deeply. She spent a lot of quality time in the kitchen with Sean & April making traditional meals and sometimes trying out new recipes. Jo-Anne will be remembered for her generosity she would shop for Christmas all year round & never turned away a friend in need. She frequently volunteered at the hospital and cancer center.

She will be laid to rest in Astorville next to her husband Mike for an eternity of peace.
