Patrick John Stapleton
We are sad to announce that Patrick Stapleton passed away on March 30, 2015 at the age of 80 years.
Patrick is survived by his wife of 50 years Louisette (Dumas), his sister Nancy Baron (Sean Barron and children Sandra, Fiona and Linda), his children Sandra (Gord McIntyre) and Michael (Lydia Paquet) and his grandchildren Fiona and Colin McIntyre.
Patrick was a man of the world with a profound love of nature and music and an admiration for science. He arrived in Canada alone at the young of age of 21 and will always remember the kindness of strangers who helped him without being asked when he was in a time of need. Although Canada became his country he remained fondly attached to his homeland of Ireland and returned often to visit his sister and her family.
Patrick had an interesting life. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force and met and married the love of his life Louisette in Chibougamau, Quebec. They were posted to St-Hubert, Quebec, and then to Ramstein, Germany, which enabled the family to travel throughout Europe. He was then posted to Comox, British Colombia and finally to Ottawa, Ontario at which time the family settled in Aylmer, Quebec. He then became a proud member of the Royal Canadian Military Police. Upon retirement he and Louisette moved to Wakefield, Quebec to finally be able to enjoy life in the country and travel the world- which they did with pleasure.
He taught us to be curious, to value knowledge and education and to be self-reliant. We will miss him.
A memorial service will be held during the summer for the family.
We are very thankful for the help and support of our friends and family during the many years of Patricks declining health. We wish to particularly thank the staff at the CHLSD, Masham for their friendship and loving care of him.
We ask that those who wish to do so something in his memory carry out a random act of kindness for a stranger in need. For those who may wish to make a donation we would ask that a contribution be made to the fundraising for the palliative care centre La Maison des Collines to be built in the MRC des Collines district of Quebec.
