C’est avec chagrin que nous vous annonçons le décès de Monsieur Ronald Marcil.
Ronald était un être généreux et un esprit brillant, doté d’un grand sens de l’humour et d’une endurance physique et morale hors du commun. Ses proches se souviendront de lui comme un aventurier des grands espaces et des contrées éloignées où il aimait se retrouver. C’est d’ailleurs ce qui l’a mené à Iqaluit où il a été contrôleur maritime pendant une vingtaine d'années.
Il était le fils de feux Gérard Marcil (1991) et Simone Quessy (2012) et fut prédécédé par sa sœur Nicole Dion (née Marcil) (2010), son frère Paul (2013), sa belle-sœur Louise Mercier (2020) son frère Robert (2024), et sa grande amie Pascale Lampron (2025). Il laisse dans le deuil sa sœur Sylvie Fischer (née Marcil), ses beaux-frères Francis Dion et Hubert Fischer, son filleul Éric Dion (femme Stacy ; enfants Méa et Caleb), ses autres neveux et nièces, Nathalie Dion (Jason Webber), Stéphanie-Pier Marcil (Mélissa Kelly ; fils Damon), Jessica, Johnathan, Matthew et Kristin Fischer (Lydia Ironside ; enfants Juliette et Hobson), ainsi que son cousin et ami Richard Léger. De nombreux autres cousins et cousines lui survivent également, dont ceux d’Elliot Lake : Annick, Suzanne, Céline, Gérald et Marcel Léger ainsi qu’un grand nombre d’amis et de collègues.
La famille désire remercier la Docteure Céline Fresne et son adjointe Dunja Lovrenovic qui ont accompagné et traité Ronald en hépatologie à l’Hôpital Montfort d’Ottawa. Elles ont su marquer Ronald tant par leur dévouement que par leur soins. Vos marques de sympathie peuvent se traduire par un don à leur département, ou à Médecins Sans Frontières que Ronald soutenait régulièrement.

Ron was a generous soul and a brilliant mind, with a wonderful sense of humor and exceptional physical and mental endurance. His loved ones will remember him as an adventurer, drawn to the wide open and remote regions he loved to explore. It was this passion that led him to Iqaluit, where he worked as a maritime traffic controller for two decades.
He was the son of the late Gérard Marcil (1991) and Simone Quessy (2012) and was predeceased by his sister Nicole Dion (née Marcil) (2010), his brother Paul (2013), his sister-in-law Louise Mercier (2020), his brother Robert (2024), and his dear friend Pascale Lampron (2025). He is survived by his sister Sylvie Fischer (née Marcil), his brothers-in-law Francis Dion and Hubert Fischer, his godson Éric Dion (wife Stacy; children Méa and Caleb), his other nephews and nieces, Nathalie Dion (Jason Webber), Stéphanie-Pier Marcil (Mélissa Kelly; son Damon), Jessica, Johnathan, Matthew, and Kristin Fischer (Lydia Ironside; children Juliette and Hobson), as well as his cousin and friend Richard Léger. Many other cousins ??also survive him, including those from Elliot Lake: Annick, Suzanne, Céline, Gérald and Marcel Léger, as well as numerous friends and colleagues.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Céline Fresne and her assistant Dunja Lovrenovic, who supported and treated Ron in Montfort Hospital’s hepatology department in Ottawa. Ron was incredibly touched by their efforts and dedication to his care.
