MCAULIFF, Ruth

1925 - 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ruth McAuliff (Lafortune), on July 31, 2021, at the age of 95, She was predeceased by her husband Norman McAuliff. Daughter of the late Ernest Lafortune and the late Valeda Pelletier.

She is survived by her children, James, Norma and Michael (Mary), her grandchildren Ryan (Ashley), Mathew (Vanessa), Jessica (Martin), Drew (Olivia); her great-grandchildren Peyton, Logan, Olivier, Charlotte and Jaxson; her brother Ernest Lafortune, her sisters Marjolaine Lafortune and Claire Laflamme and her God-daughter Anne Lafortune. She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law Claire Malette, Diane McAuliff and Marie-Paule Bigras-McAuliff, her brothers-in-law Jacques Beausoleil and Marcel Wolfe (Janine) as well as several nephews, nieces, and friends.

The religious mass will take place Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 12 pm at St-Francois-de-Sales Church located at 799 Jacques-Cartier Street, Gatineau, QC J8T 2W1. The family will receive condolences at the church at 11:15 am.

The family wishes to thank Audrey Courval of the CLSC, the personnel of the Gatineau Hospital for their excellent care as well as the professional care team at the Village Riviera Seniors Residence.

Jimmy and family

I have loved Mrs. Ruth McAuliff from the first time we met back in 1988. She welcomed me into her home with warmness, pride, and grace which was what she was all about. Her entire family embraced me with warmth.

She continued to treat me with such deep respect which I was so privileged to have. She exuded kindness, love, and always liked to smile and laugh. I am deeply saddened by her loss and truly will miss her loving heart.

God bless her on her new journey. May she fly with the angels above!

The Schingh and the McAuliff family's go back a long way to Cold Lake Alberta. It was so nice for our parents to re-connect when we were stationed back in Ottawa and moved to Gatineau, (which I think may have been at the recommendation of your father). Us kids in both families were close to the same age and became great friends and in some cases best friends. Your mom's passing ends an era between our parents, but us as their children will continue to enjoy each others company every now and then. Take care my friends and our sympathy to all of you.
