BLAIS, Royal

It is with deepest sorrow that our family announces the passing of our patriarch Royal Raoul Blais at 90+ years of age.  He left us peacefully on Saturday, December 4th, 2021 after a long battle with a number of medical challenges.

Dad was first and foremost a loving, caring and completely devoted husband to Mom, Iris Kilby-Blais to whom he was married for over 68 cherished years.  He was an affectionate, gentle and dedicated father who always put the attention of his family first.

He leaves his son Steve, daughter-in-law Elise whom he always considered his “angel” and grandson Mathieu, who will forever treasure the time and adventures they shared with him.  They are forever grateful for the wisdom and love he imparted and impressed upon them.

His son David, wife Brenda and granddaughters Vanessa and Allison will also forever miss his everpresent smile and tender ways.

He leaves his sister Suzanne and brother Philippe, numerous nieces and nephews, with a special mention of his niece Annie Power whose loving dedication to his wellbeing will always be remembered.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 2 p.m. at La Coopérative funéraire de l’Outaouais, 95 Cité des Jeunes Boulevard in Gatineau, Hull sector.  The service can also be viewed live or later via the following link : https://commemora.tv/fr/diffusions/47918

Very sorry for your loss. I have beautiful memories of your Dad growing up and how he and his brothers would gather and talk about their fishing expeditions. Fred and I will be thinking of you and your family on the 9th January as we are currently out of the country and unable to make the ceremony. My most heartfelt condolences for the passing of Roy. I met Iris and him at Symmes in 2017 and had the honour to be their waitresses for 4 years. Roy had a contagious smile and laugh that would make any person that felt low far much better. I really appreciated him and our little conversations during supper service.
