Claude Romain
August 7, 1947 – November 12, 2020
on November 12, 2020 at La Residence Le Manoir de Wakefield, Quebec. Claude retired from Microsoft Canada in 2005 as Senior Account Manager, Financial Services and spent most of his career in Hi-Tech (Visio Canada, Hewlett Packard, Sperry Univac and IBM Canada), following a career in the RCMP. He served on the Board of Directors for Des Collines Health Foundation and as an active Board member of the Centre Wakefield La Pêche. He volunteered on several working groups and committees at the Wakefield United Church, the Wakefield La Pêche Writers Festival, the Men’s Club and thoroughly enjoyed working with the ‘guys & gals’ rebuilding the barn at the Fairburn House and building stage sets for the Wakefield Theatre.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lorraine Romain, his four children, Pamela (David), Stuart (Kerri-Line), Jennifer (Virgil) and Tara (Brad); his two stepchildren Jessica (Eric) and Katrine; his 11 grandchildren, and his two brothers Louis and Michael and three sisters Lynn, Sylvia and Laura as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nephews, nieces and friends.
Special thanks to the Director of La Residence Le Manoir, Francesca Tanguay and all the staff who were so kind and compassionate and tended to Claude during his final days. We would also like to thank Dr. Melissa LeGrand who was always just a phone call away as well as all the social workers who assisted the family during the past year, Linda Sullivan, Winny Van Der Vaart and Carole Morin.
As per Claude’s personal wishes, there will be no funeral service.
