In memory of Vera Florian-Bilek (Babi) of Chelsea, Quebec - May 28, 1932 - September 26, 2024. After a long battle with illnesses, she stayed strong for her family. We are heartbroken to announce her peaceful passing at the age of 92. Our mother was predeceased by her beloved husband, Oldrich, with whom she shared a beautiful life.
Mom will be forever remembered as a devoted mother of Roman (wife Kenna), Dana (husband Gilles), and Vera (husband Brian). She was the proud grandmother to, Paul (partner Frankie), Tyler (wife Amanda), Tiffany (husband Malcom), Lindsay (husband Damian), Alexis (fiancé Nathan), and Shannon (partner Ashleigh), and a proud great-grandmother of Haley and Logan, all of whom were touched by her gentle love and smile. She also leaves behind a loving surviving brother Bohouš (wife Jana) and nephew Honza who resides in Czech Republic.
Born in Czechoslovakia, Mom lived a remarkable life. After the 1968 Russian invasion, her and her husband made the brave decision to leave their homeland with their three children to seek a new life in Canada. She and her family settled in Hamilton, Ontario, where she lived for 24 years before moving to Chelsea, Quebec. Her journey was a testament to her resilience, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Mom had a deep love for her Czech heritage and was proud to pass down her culture and traditions to the generations that followed. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the delicious aromas of her famous Czech cooking. She loved nature, often enjoying the serenity of her garden and the beauty of Chelsea’s landscapes.
A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In honor of her final wishes, Mom will return to her beloved Czech Republic, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Oldrich.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the wonderful team at La Pieta for their compassionate care during our mother’s final days.
Our dear Mother was the pillar for all of our family and loved by anyone who ever came into her life. Mother your beautiful smile, your kind soul and your heart warming gentleness will live on and in our hearts and memories forever. We love you and keep you in our hearts forever.
