It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Jeanne Bensette-Cuerrier on May 28th, 2023, at the age of 80.
Jeanne, aka “PITA”, was the most loving mother who cared deeply and cherished her family. Her family was the most important thing in the world to her and she would’ve done anything for them. She loved to joke and laugh, was very affectionate and loving to everyone she knew, especially her family.
Jeanne’s son Roger, took her into his home 1.5 years ago so that she could be cared for and be with family. They shared priceless and precious time together, joking, teasing and laughing so hard that tears would run down their cheeks. Roger loved to cook and Jeanne loved to assist and clean-up. Roger’s commitment and love to Jeanne was the most precious gift he could’ve have given and she loved him dearly for it.
Jeanne took care of her husband Lorenzo Cuerrier in the early stages of his Alzheimer, until she could no longer do so. Thereafter, she visited Lorenzo daily at Bon séjour, tending to his every need, from early morning to early evening. During this time, she also assisted with the care and feeding of other patients, where she bonded with other wives, making lasting friendships (Huguette and Micheline). She was well liked and respected by the préposés (care givers) and received a plaque recognizing her for her volunteer work.
Jeanne cherished the daily phone calls from Christine McKinnon (niece) and Christine Lecompte, whom she loved so much.
Jeanne has left us with many fond memories. She is dearly loved and will always be remembered and forever in our hearts.
“Most times my mother makes me laugh.
Sometimes I think she’s insane,
but then again, she may take a look at me
and think the very same.”
