BOUCHER, Michel

Charles MICHEL Boucher died peacefully in his sleep on August 19, 2017, at a cottage near his home in Ottawa, Canada, at the age of 70.

He was born on December 22, 1946, to his parents Jean Boucher and Jeanne Gascon.  He is survived by his life partner Betty Edwards; by his sister Catherine Boucher (Debbie Barton); by his children: Chloë MacLeod-Boucher and Gregory Wagland (Anna); by Betty’s children: Shelley Edwards (Jacek Dmochowski) and Paul Hollenson; and by Shelley’s children: Maddy Edwards and Lily Dmochowski.

Michel will be remembered as a man with an inquisitive mind, a big heart and generous spirit.  He valued his relationships with family and friends, and had a deep affection for animals.  He was a student of history and linguistics and a proud francophone.  He loved politics and the arts, and he enjoyed playing and designing historically-informed strategy board games.  He was a life-long learner and teacher, and was always up for a lively exchange of ideas.

A private memorial event will be held on August 26, 2017.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of Michel’s favourite charities, the National Arts Centre ‘Share the Spirit’ program ( https://nac-cna.ca/en/foundation/sharethespirit ).
