1950 - 2017
In loving memory of:
Henri Major, Attorney at Law
Henri was taken to his heavenly abode on February 8, 2017, at age 66. He was the beloved husband of Louise Sauriol and son of late Louis-David Major and late Noëlla Larocque (New Liskeard). Other than by his loving wife, he is mourned by his stepchildren Caroline and Daniel Rochon (Kim); his grand-children Célyne and Lysanne (Mélina); and great-grandchildren Aimée and Elena. Survived also by his sisters Jacqueline (Alex Walkingshaw) and Lucille; his brothers Robert (Marie-Claire Guindon) and Maurice (Daniel Sarrazin), as well as his sisters-in-law Claire Sauriol and Marie Chaminade (René); his brothers-in-law Yvan Sauriol (Carole) and René Sauriol, and numerous nephews, nieces, family members, friends, and colleagues.
Over and above his practice of the law, Henri was a founding member of the Association des jeunes professionnels de l’Outaouais (AJPO) and an active member of the Association des Major-Bontron d’Amérique (AMBA), where he successively played every executive role. However, his volunteer work with Faith and Light and L’Arche communities is how he most profoundly touched the heart of so many people, here in Gatineau, but also in Canada and internationally. His generosity continued to the end, when he decided to participate in an amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) research project with McGill University.
Visitations will take place at the COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE DE L’OUTAOUAIS on Friday, March 3, 2017, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The address is 1369 La Vérendrye West Blvd, Gatineau. A Holy Mass will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 11:00 am, at the Saint-Alexandre church, 1 Des Érables Road, Gatineau. Family members will be receiving condolences before the service, at 10:30 am.
For those who wish to do so, donations to L’Arche Agapè (Gatineau), Faith and Light or the ALS Society of Canada (Lou Gehrig’s disease) would be appreciated.
The family wishes to thank EVERY staff member at La Piéta and the CSSS de Gatineau (6th North) for the excellent quality of care they provided Henri.
